Boobs & Pubes

So I wrote a new song and it happens to be about, well, a Brazilian bikini wax (which if you don’t know means everything goes). Now, I write pretty frankly on just about any subject I want. I’ve got a song about a vibrator. I’ve got a song about a blow job (that includes a Harry-met-Sally-esque fake orgasm at the end). I’ve got a song called “Light the Fucking Candles” and do I hear a peep about inappropriate subject matter? No peeps. But apparently I missed the memo about pubic hair.

About a third of the people I’ve shared the lyrics with have been shocked (shocked!) at how graphic they are. Really, it’s a silly song that covers a rather inclusive list of euphemisms for the short and curly stuff. So tell me, what is it about a muff that’s dirtier than, say, a nipple? What pantyline of propriety does this cross? See how it goes at our next show at Mr. Spot’s Chai House in Seattle Saturday, June 2. Here are the lryics in question (imagine a lively samba):

Brazilian Wax

Even after all this time
same old recipe’s mighty fine
But no matter how you slice it up
sometimes you just have to spice it up
I know you’re ready for something new
so baby, here’s a surprise for you

Brazilian wax, it’s so hip, Brazilian wax, let her rip
Brazilian wax, it’s no bluff, Brazilian wax, lost the muff

I wasn’t sure I could take the pain
But I knew we had a lot to gain.
Baby you know it was worth the cost
just to lose nature’s dental floss
When you touch me it’s such a rush
since I weed-whacked the underbrush

Brazilian wax, feeling smug, Brazilian wax, cut the rug
Brazilian wax, I promote, Brazilian wax, no fur coat

Day after day love can lose its thrill
We learned a lesson from Brazil
They have a secret that’s sure to please:
clear-cut the forest of all the trees
If your lover just needs a push
go for the bird and forget the bush

Brazilian wax, where’s the beard, Brazilian wax, disappeared
Brazilian wax, for the barest, Brazilian wax, mons veneris
Brazilian wax, look out below, Brazilian wax, pendejo.
