Nigeria = Hawaii

I guess I’m on a mini-roll of odd comparisons. This map of the U.S. is one of the most interesting things I’ve come across recently. It replaces the names of the states with countries that have similar GNPs. It’s a graphic depiction of just how huge the U.S. economy is. California alone is the economic equal of France. Tiny Delaware compares to Romania and Texas weighs in at the level of Canada.

On the whole, given a choice between a vacation in Hawaii or Lagos, I think I’ll be packin’ my ukulele. On the other hand, my trip to my neice’s bat mitvah in Atlanta last month could have gotten me all the way to Switzerland and all that lovely chocolate.

UPDATE: You KNOW you’re an American when you look at a map and see THIS.
