melting buildingIt was sometime in the 80’s. We were living in Echo Park at the time and I’d consumed something on a tiny square of paper. Soon, the walls were melting… melting…

But in this case, it’s a real building in Paris, painted - not Photoshopped.

This building mural, a trompe-l’oeil, is located in Georges V Ave. in Paris, France. Trompe-l’oeil is an art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects really exist, instead of being just two-dimensional paintings. The name is derived from French for “trick the eye.”
