How can you ever really know?

I’ve had the strangest morning.

I dreamed I was trapped at Home Depot and got caught up in a big Broadway-style dance number going on throughout the store. At the end I was named Miss Microsoft and sent off to a press conference I couldn’t get to because every door led to a muddy field. I woke up before I had to face the cameras in mud-stained shoes and dragged myself out of bed.

When I got downstairs, my computer was gone! There was just an empty space where lovely Intel iMac had been the night before. I looked around. Had I left the door unlocked last night? I kept returning to the desk, hoping maybe it was really there all the time and I had just missed it. But no. I started trying to figure out what to do first. Call the police? When did the Apple store open? Just then…

I opened my eyes… and I was in bed. Another dream! I got up and went downstairs. My computer was there on the desk, just like always. Phew! I sat down, much relieved and started working. Everything was going fine until suddenly, the computer screen switched to a strange, fast-moving game I’d never seen before. Had a virus had taken over control? I hammered at the keys, trying to get it to stop, but the keyboard was completely locked up. I couldn’t even turn it off. I was just about to pull the plug out of the wall when…

I opened my eyes… and I was in bed! Again! I think I’m at my computer right now making a blog post.

But how can I be sure?

  1. Hi Eva,
What a strange dream! I have a very reasoned and thoroughly researched response, which I will post as soon as I clean up all these brightly colored christmas ornaments floating about my office. Also, those aliens and gnomes had a post season rugby game in the cafeteria, and my manager, Emelda Marcos, wants me to clean up the mess.

  2. Of course, the worst part about it is that I had $20 on the gnomes.
