The root cause is that people aren't speeding like they used to because it costs too much gasoline. Without income from speeders, cities are looking for income in other violations. Last week, I received a parking ticket. There was no parking on this street from 10:00 to 12:00 due to street cleaning. The time stamp on the ticket is 10:01. According to my atomic watch, I was back at the truck but 10:03, and Rita had scored at least three other vehicles by then. I imagined Rita sitting in her golf cart at the end of the block, counting down the time until 10:00 like NASA. Eva, I believe that this same, sad song is being sung all over America.
