I just got a brand new Paperwhite Kindle, which I looooooove. I know people who rant about the demise of “real” books. But if you haven’t used an eReader, you’ll have to trust me on this: It’s a book. In fact, it’s a LOT of books – many of them free. Libraries across the country are lending to Kindles now. I just log in to the library website, find the books I want to read and download them. Instant readification and no late fees. Three weeks later, they vanish.
But it leaves me with a poor orphan Kindle in need of a loving home. It comes all dressed up in a lovely purple paisley skin and snugged into a leather case with a built in light. Tell me in comments who I should give it to and why.
The best story wins.
Once upon a time there was a biblioholic who only had a piddly little iPhone screen for reading eBooks, because she kept dithering between Kindle and iPad and all the other options. One day, a wondrous belly dancing fairy godmother arrived and said she had a Kindle which needed a new home. The biblioholic was thrilled by this new toy, but still managed to pry herself away long enough to make a lovely pair of silver earrings for her fairy godmother.
And they all read happily ever after :-)
As a single mom, who is struggling to get by it’s never easy to find any extra money to do anything for yourself. It’s not even easy to buy a paper book when there are shoes, coats, winter boots, holidays and all the things that come with being the parent of 3. So a kindle that I don’t have to feel like I am neglecting one of the kids needs, would be an amazing blessing for me.
Well bless my soul, rock and roll,
an orphaned purple people reader looking for a home.
Lightweight, mind-expanding,
book exploding, word-gripping, amazing literary utensil
Just looking for a home …
Newly-liberated, and hence, now floundering
this purple people reader
sure looks good to me!
Living on disability, less than $700/month with with a back injury and chronic back pain..sometimes unable to leave my bed for very long. A kindle would be a God-send for me to have at times like that. Every month is just a struggle to keep electric, phone turned on. I love to read but am unable to get out very often to even look for second-hand books.
Damn this was hard to decide! I was tempted by the silver earring bribe. And Purple People Eater was one of the theme songs of my youth… and very cleverly redone. But it’s hard to turn away from a sad tale. Brenda, send me an email and the kindle is yours. eva@evamoon.net
